Bradley Cooper Exits Jane Got A Gun

Oscar-nominee Bradley Cooper has become the latest actor to walk from Jane Got A Gun. His departure follows that of Michael Fassbender and Jude Law, as well as the unexpected exit of original director Lynne Ramsay the day shooting was meant to begin.

The film, which stars Natalie Portman as the titular Jane, has been plagued by production issues pretty much from the start. Cooper has been forced to walk because of scheduling conflicts; the Boston bombing delayed filming on his current project, David O. Russell’s American Hustle and he’ll be spending the summer promoting The Hangover Part III.

Set in the Wild West, Jane Got A Gun will (eventually) tell the story of a woman who contacts her ex (Joel Edgerton) to save her home from the gang who murdered her husband.

Reports suggest the producers have until June to find a replacement and are now looking at Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tom Hiddleston and Jake Gyllenhaal to fill the gap.

X-Men Director Bryan Singer Tweets Wolverine Set Photo

Like The Amazing Spider-Man 2’s Marc Webb, X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer is no stranger to the on-set photo diary. Followers have already been treated to a short video of the actors’ chairs and a slightly underwhelming photo of Halle Berry in her new Storm gear.

His latest little tease is probably enough to get people psyched up again; a photo taken behind Wolverine himself, Hugh Jackman.

The mutton-chopped hero was the unexpected cameo in X-Men: First Class back in 2011, and with a cast boasting returning X-Men alumni like Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore – the sequel may serve as a giant (awesome) mutant love-in.

The plot details are still being kept under wraps, but Marvel’s creative consultant Mark Millar has promised a much more action-packed adventure: “You’ve got robots, you’ve got time travel, you’ve got superheroes – it’s got everything in one film.”

Michael Fassbender Set To Play Macbeth

Hamlet and Macbeth are two of the most important roles an actor can perform – and hot property Michael Fassbender has just been lined up to play the latter. The Scottish play is famous for it’s gothic horror and witchcraft, effortlessly combining murder, betrayal and greed to make it one of Shakespeare’s most adapted plays.

Filming is due to begin later this year with Justin Kurzel (Snowtown) lined up to direct. The script, written by Todd Louiso and Jacob Koskoff, is said to be one of the most in-demand ahead of the Cannes Film Festival.

Macbeth tells the story of the eponymous Scottish lord who, after a chat with three ambiguous witches, sets about slaughtering his nearest and dearest in order to become king. There’s plenty in the story to transfer to film – blood, battles and ghosts for starters – and if can Kurzel manages to honour the subtleties as well as the gore, we should be in for a treat.

Fassbender, meanwhile, is currently filming the mutant sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past with James McAvoy (who coincidentally has just finished playing Macbeth in the West End).

It will be produced by See Saw – the same people who were behind Fassbender’s previous tour-de-force, Shame,

Iron Man 3 Opens Bigger Than Avengers Assemble

Iron Man 3 has opened to a whopping $195.3 million over the weekend, beating last summer’s Marvel behemoth Avengers Assemble which opened at $185.1 million.

The third outing for Robert Downey, Jr’s genius-billionaire-playboy-philanthropist is also responsible for smashing box office records in Argentina, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Vietnam, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and the Phillipines where it scored the biggest opening weekends ever.

Shane Black takes over from Jon Favreau as director of the film, which sees Iron Man face his deadliest enemy yet -the Mandarin (Ben Kinglsey). Reviews promise plenty of action and a few surprising plot twists, too. It also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Rebecca Hall and Guy Pearce.

Iron Man 3 paves the way for the second wave of Marvel movies coming out over the next 18 months. Thor: The Dark World is next up on October 30th, with Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and X-Men: Days of Future Past all coming soon. No pressure!
